Install Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update On AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4; I337UCUFNB1 Firmware Now Available Via Over-The-Air Upgrade

Users of AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 can now install official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

According to a post on International Business Times, the I337UCUFNB1 firmware, which is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now available for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 units. Particularly, the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S4 bearing the model number SGH - I337.

Aside from upgrading the device to Android 4.4.2 KitKat version, the official firmware also brings in features such as Galaxy Gear compatibility. Furthermore, citing XDA Developers, the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware also of includes a "drag-and-drop feature to uninstall or disable apps." AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 users who will install the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will also see enhancements to various apps including the stock camera, the gallery app and the phone dialer.

The official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is available through the over-the-air update. However, since the update is usually released in stages, it may take some time for the firmware to reach all the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 units.

But users who are still waiting for the OTA update and very excited to install the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on their Samsung Galaxy S4 can opt for the manual installation process. Please note that root is not yet available for the new update. Furthermore, SuperSU survival mode is not able to regain root during the upgrade. As such, you may wish to block the update until a suitable root option is achieved.

Before installing the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, make sure that the data and settings stored in the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 are properly backed up. Also, the battery level of the device should be 80 percent or more before installing the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to avoid power interruption issues that might cause potential damage to the device.
