Leonardo DiCaprio Misses Out On The Oscars Once Again In 2014: A Look Back At "The Wolf Of Wall Street" Star's Nominations Over The Years

Leonardo DiCaprio missed out on the Oscar this 2014 once again for his tour de force performance in "The Wolf of Wall Street," as his co-star Matthew McConaughey took home the trophy.

Leonardo DiCaprio, however managed to keep his poise at the Oscars 2014 and even hugged McConaughey-who won for his performance in the "Dallas Buyers Club" as Ron Woodroof who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1985--after the winners were announced, said L.A. Times.

The Internet, however, is not so gracious as forums were awashed with sympathies for Leonardo DiCaprio for missing out on the Oscars this 2014, as well as anger directed at the Academy for always snubbing the actor.

Twitter reported that the hashstags #PoorLeo and #GiveLeoAnOscar were both trending.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" was the fourth nomination for Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscars. Here is a look at the star's nominations over the years:

What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993): Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for best supporting actor as he played Arnie Grape, the backup to Johnny Depp's title character. His youth might have worked against him. He lost to Tommy Lee Jones who played U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard in "The Fugitive."

Aviator (2004): Directed by Martin Scorsese, the movie chronicles the adventures of Howard Hughes. Leonardo DiCaprio is supported by a great cast including Alec Baldwin and Cate Blanchett. Leonardo DiCaprio missed out on the Oscars for that film on the strength of Jamie Foxx's acting in "Ray."

Blood Diamond (2006): Leonardo DiCaprio plays the character of Danny Archer, a smuggler in the heart of Africa trying to smuggle out a priceless diamond. Jennifer Connelly also starred in the dark film. Even his character's death did not save his chances at the Academy. Again that year, Leonardo DiCaprio missed out on the Oscars because of Forest Whitaker's performance in the film "The Last King of Scotland" as Idi Amin.
