Top Android Phones 2014: Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Vs. LG G2 Mini, Who Will Win The 'Miniature' Battle?

Top Android phones 2014: The Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G2 are two high-end devices which were both launched last year. However, for people who have smaller hands, the 'mini' versions of these devices would surely provide what they need.

We are talking about the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and the LG G2 mini, which were both announced this year.

So which mini version will make it big in the Android market?

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

We first heard about the mini Xperia Z1 a couple of months after it launched. The Xperia Z1f was released in Japan, and the Xperia Z1s made its way to China. And we thought we would never see the Z1 mini version in the international market. Fortunately, Sony heard our prayers and launched the device at the CES 2014.

The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is not like any other mini version in the market today. That is because instead of getting lower specs than the original, Sony decided to retain all the juicy specs of the Xperia Z1 save for the screen, making all its mini versions a must-buy. The Z1 Compact boasts a 4.3-inch display with 720p resolution, a 2.2GHz quad-core CPU, Snapdragon 800, Adreno 330 for extreme graphics performance and 2GB of RAM.

There is also a 20.7MP camera at the back and a 2,300mAh battery.

LG G2 Mini

Unlike the Z1 Compact, the G2 mini was not intended to be threat to flagship devices from other manufacturers. Instead, it offers enough features encapsulated in the original G2's lovely design. The handset packs a 4.3-inch display with only qHD (960 x 540) resolution, only a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset, and 1GB of RAM.

Also on board is a 8-megapixel rear camera, and a slightly bigger 2,440mAh battery. One advantage of the G2 mini over the Z1 Compact, is that it runs Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box, whereas the latter would have to wait for the update some time in the future.

Another positive side for the G2 mini is that it is priced much cheaper than the Xperia Z1 Compact, making it an ideal purchase even for students and early users of Android.

Conclusion

So basically, the winner in this matchup depends on the consumer who would get it. Does he want a lightning-fast device that can take on high-end devices with bigger screens? Or does he want a midrange that can do most of the tasks he wants but offer a fairly decent price? Only you can tell who wins this match.
