The Canadiens acquired goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Predators as Carey Price remains out an upper-body injury. Veteran backup Peter Budaj has done a solid job in between the pipes. He's gone 16-6-5 during the past two seasons.
"I'm just taking things one game at a time. I know it's a cliché but we have to look at the next task ahead of us and we have to see what we did right and what we did wrong today and fix the mistakes to get ready for next game," Budaj told NHL.com. "I try to prepare myself physically and mentally for when I get a chance to play and so far I feel great. My energy levels are really good and hopefully it stays that way."
Corey Perry scored twice and had an assist during a three-goal first period, Andrew Cogliano recorded a short-handed goal and Frederik Andersen made 49 saves against the Hurricanes as the Ducks improved to 24-5-2 at home, according to NHL.com.
"It's a good thing to get going and (get) on a streak," said Cogliano, who has a career-high 19 goals. "We didn't feel like we played our best before the Olympic break, so to have two wins, is a good sign. If we play like (Sunday) all the time, we'll be tough to beat for anybody."
Anaheim only traded players away and stocked up on draft picks as the Ducks have the best record in the NHL.
