Ian Somerhalder recently expressed his excitement after finding out that his Facebook page has officially reached 10 million likes. For the 35-year-old actor, the likes are not merely for popularity but also tools for inspiring more people to do something good for the society.

Apart from updating fans about Somerhalder's entertainment projects, his Facebook page likewise serves as an avenue for him to promote his foundation, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF).

Wet Paint reports that Somerhalder's social media accounts manager Oliver Luckett should also be acknowledged for the success. Just last month, the duo was featured in PBS' 'Frontline' documentary for their massive social media influence. That time, Somerhalder's Facebook page only had 6.3 million friends.

"We're looking at the live numbers of the show, and what you guys have created has a higher number value than actually the viewership of The Vampire Diaries or the United States. It's just crazy to me," says Somerhalder.
