Liam Neeson's 'Non-Stop' Officially Dethrones 'The Lego Movie' In Its Box Office Notch; Lupita Nyong'o's Flight Attendant Role Didn't Shine Much In The Thriller?
Liam Neeson's 'Non-Stop' revolves around a sky marshal who was left with no choice but to fight terrorists who threatened to kill one passenger every 10 minutes in the transt-Atlantic flight if the ransom money wouldn't be deposited.
The thriller film officially defeated 'The Lego Movie' from its top notch for the past three weekends. as per Rentrak Corporation, Liam Neeson's 'Non-Stop' earned $30 million in its first weekend sales followed by 'Son of God' with $26.5 million. Animated film 'The Lego Movie' placed third with $21 million.
As its name suggests, 'Son of God' is a biopic drama distributed by 21st Century Fox (FOXA). The film covers the life of Jesus Christ from his birth until his resurrection.
It is anticipated that Liam Neeson's 'Non-Stop' will continue to generate impressive weekend sales. Neeson gained fame as a thriller hero when he starred in the hit film 'Taken' in January 2009. While the first film earned $227 million worldwide, the 2012 sequel cashed in a whooping $376 million.
Apart from Neeson, Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery, and Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o are also in the film. However, Nyong'o's role as a flight attendant did not give her much exposure as opposed to her pivotal role in the Oscars 2014 Best Picture '12 Years a Slave'.
