‘Independence Day 2’ Cast Rumors: Jeff Goldblum Eager To Return Even Without Will Smith! Role In Sequel More Of A Fighter, Less Geeky!

Two sequels of Jeff Goldblum's biggest hit movies are being made. He will not be in "Jurassic World" but he'll be back for "ID4 1" (Independence Day 2) sans his hotshot pilot Will Smith.

Smith may have had enough of aliens, but not Goldblum. He'd rather look at future menaces rather than pre-historic ones. He spoke about his 'Jurassic experience' with I Am Rogue:  "I don't know anything about Jurassic Park, so it seems that the ship is sailing and I'll buy a ticket to see it. I was very happy to do the two I did and to work with Mr. Steven Spielberg."

He will join another sequel, that is Independence Day 2 which has an official title "Independence Day Forever Part 1" (ID4 1) as it was confirmed to have two parts.

Goldblum has revealed: "I had a dinner meeting a while ago now with Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, who I enjoy very much. I haven't read anything, but they're cooking up something that they sound passionate about. So, I'll see if that occurs. That would be fun."

Without Will Smith, Goldblum will have to take a more physical role. While he is still the scientist who figures it all out, he's ready to kick some alien butt. He's more prepared now since they have studied more about the aliens-as revealed in the plot spoilers from an interview with director Roland Emmerich in Entertainment Weekly:

"The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back. And they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that's 20 or 25 years."

"It's a changed world. It's like parallel history. [Humans] have harnessed all this alien technology. We don't know how to duplicate it because it's organically-grown technology, but we know how to take an antigravity device and put it in a human airplane."

"It's still some of the same characters, but also new younger characters; it's a little bit like the sons take over. The first one ends on a little success, but only enough to give the humans hope. And then in the second one they free themselves again [from the aliens]."

"ID4 Part 1" explodes in theaters on July 1, 2016.
