Upcoming Android Phones 2014: New Xiaomi Handset Tipped To Boast Octa-Core Chipset And 4G LTE Connectivity, But Would Cost Just Around $130

Upcoming Android phones 2014: Xiaomi has been considered one of the emerging smartphone makers in China due to its consistent lineup of quality devices with super affordable price tags. Now, it looks like the company is bringing it to an entirely different level.

According to a report from GSM Arena, the company's upcoming HongMi 2 smartphone could be among the first devices to run on an octa-core chipset but get a very aggressive pricing.

Also known as the RedMi, the HongMi has already been announced several weeks ago, but pricing and availability details were not yet revealed.

However, the octa-core is not the only note-worthy feature of the Xiaomi handset. The smartphone's octa-core is made up of both MediaTek and Snapdragon Cortex-A53 wherein the latter allegedly supports 4G LTE. If the handset indeed comes with LTE, then this is certainly a must-have for budget shoppers.

Other specs include a 5.5-inch display with HD resolution, a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP front cam, a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB of storage.

In the report, the Xiaomi HongMi 2 could be priced at around $130. That may seem pretty low, but in a very competitive Chinese smartphone market, it may just be the only way for the device to sell.
