Nokia X Release Date: Android-Powered Handset Surpasses 1 Million Pre-Orders In China, Official Launch Still 2 Weeks Away

Nokia X release date: Launched a couple of weeks ago, the Nokia X, also known as the Normandy is soon to be released in a number of countries, including the very lucrative Chinese market.

However, for Nokia executives, it seems they will be having a sigh of relief as China fully embraces the Android-powered handset's decent specs and affordable pricing.

According to a report from GSM Arena, the 4-inch smartphone has already surpassed one million pre-orders across China. And it's only been four days since pre-orders began.

While the Finnish manufacturer does not make any promises, the handset will certainly give them a chunk of the Android pie in the world's largest smartphone market.

To celebrate, Nokia even posted an image on their Weibo account, announcing the feat of their lowest-end Android device. Aside from the Nokia X, there is also the X+ and the XL which would probably launch several weeks to a few months later.

In case you haven't checked out the Nokia Normandy yet, it boasts a 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz dual-core CPU, a 3MP camera, and 512MB of RAM.
