'Bates Motel' Season 2 Spoilers: Norma's Mysterious Brother Comes In For A Visit; Is Caleb A Hero Or Villain?

When "Bates Motel" season 2 returns, its seems Norma's mysterious brother Caleb Calhoun (Kenny Johnson) has turned up in White Pine Bay looking for his sister. But as both brother and sister will team up to stop the bypass, one question remains: Is Caleb a hero or villain?

According to the synopsis of the "Bates Motel" season 2 episode 3 titled "Caleb," Norma (Vera Farmiga) will meet an ally in Caleb in her struggle to stop the bypass from destroying her motel. Meanwhile, Norman (Freddie Highmore) will become infatuated with another girl.

Episode 3 will guest star Michael O'Neill, Michael Vartan, Michael Eklund, Paloma Kwiatkowski and Rebecca Creskoff.

"Considering the horrible stories Norma had to say about Caleb at the end of Season 1, he likely won't be very well received next episode," Terri Schwartz of blogzap2itcom wrote, as she added that this will add to the already tense relationship between Norma and Norman.

Max Thieriot, who plays Dylan Massett in the series, told the website that it's always "exciting" to bring in another family member to further understand the motivations of the characters.

"Just having a new family show up into the relationship kind of throws a curve ball at everybody, and you wonder why has this guy not been here? Why has he not been here? What's going on?" he said.

The Collider sensed that Caleb's introduction in "Bates Motel" season 2 as the brother who's long been trying to find his sister Norma will throw another wrinkle into the already complex story.

"What new trouble might he bring? (More questions of incest?)"

During the press promo earlier this month, Vera Farmiga said the violent trauma of sex abuse suffered by Norma Bates caused a lot of psychological issues such as depression, fear, guilt and low self-esteem.

"She's got pretty significant stressors that affect her parenting capacities, as well as every other relationship that she can take on. I feel like she's driving the bus from the backseat. It's also a coping mechanism," she said.

"Bates Motel" season 2 airs on A&E on Monday, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
