Nexus 10 2 Release Date Rumors: Second Generation 10-Inch Sized Google Tablet To Be Replaced By New Nexus Slate With 8.9-Inch Screen?

Rumors that Nexus 10 2 release date might not happen anymore emerge as Google is now expected to release a new model for its Nexus line.

Previous reports about Nexus 10 2 release date suggested that the internet search giant might launch the highly-rumored tablet during Google's Developer Conference. According to Christian Today, Nexus 10 2 release date might happen during Google I/O Conference 2014, which is scheduled for June 25 - 26. In addition to the Nexus 10 2 release, the report also suggested that Google is expected to launch a new operating system, which is currently dubbed as Android 4.5.

However, a more recent post from International Business Times stated that "All hopes for a Nexus 10 2 release date this 2014 is dead," as Google is now  expected to release a new tabled, called Nexus 8, which is equipped with an 8.9-inch screen.

This strategic shift from Google, according to the publication site, citing DigiTimes, highly suggested that the internet search and tech giant is preparing "to compete in the large-size tablet segment, and with low cost and mobility."

Accordingly, the 8.9-inch Nexus tablet is Google's first Android slate project for the year. Furthermore, the post on DigiTimes reads:

Digitimes Research expects the Nexus tablet to help prompt other brand vendors to turn to the large-size tablet segment, which only currently accounts for 30% in overall tablet shipments.

As noted on the IB Times post, the report from DigiTimes "somehow points to the likelihood that Google sees no business sense in issuing a second edition of the 10.1-inch Nexus 10."

The alleged specs for the Nexus 8 are: LTE-Advanced connectivity, the latest Google mobile OS, which can be the Android 4.5, PowerVR G6430 graphic engine, RAM of up to 4 GB and storage options of 32 and 64GB.

Meanwhile, if Nexus 10 2 release date will still happen, the second-generation full-sized Google tablet might arrive with specs such as nVidia Tegra 4 chipset or the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon, 3 GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 8 MP primary camera and a 10-inch display screen with resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.
