The Amazing Spider Man 2 Final Trailer: [VIDEO] Spider Man Looks Overmatched With Powerful Villains And A Sinister Plot! One Last Look Before The Release!

Sony has just released the 'final trailer' for "The Amazing Spider Man 2." After almost a year of teasing, speculation and sneak peeks, the movie will open May 2, 2014.

In the trailer, one can't help but notice that Spider Man seems overmatched. The villains indeed look menacing! The CGI is seamless and the action since are brisk but well-executed.

A review from Forbes' Scott Mendelson: "Andrew Garfield is clearly more comfortable in the title role. Despite fears of villain-overcrowding, the marketing seems to be focusing on a single adversary, Jamie Foxx's Electro, with a new Green Goblin popping up right at the end (think Two-Face in The Dark Knight) and Paul Giamatti's Rhino being a glorified curtain-raiser."

The film looks packed with spectacular fight scenes, a love story and a brewing conspiracy (the advantage of already having greenlit sequels). As we have seen from the deluge of trailers from December to the three-part Super bowl shorts and the 4 minute action 'sizzle' Spider Man has three known adversaries. They also had the Peter Parker-Gwen Stacy featurette.

While trailers are supposed to arouse curiosity, it was almost a question of whether Sony gave too much away. Speaking of spoilers, the biggest spoiler in the movie is the all too obvious death of Gwen Stacy that was based on the comic book story arc. The final trailer tries to veer us away from that. Forbes observes:

"Ironically, despite the first film selling itself as a teen romance that happened to have web-slinging, this sequel's marketing campaign features almost no Emma Stone save for scenes hinting at her character's iconic four-color demise."

Perhaps this was meant to attract the other superhero movie fans that were turned off by the 'young adult' vibe of the first movie that focused on self-discovery, the love story and humor with an underwhelming villain. The sequel, based on the trailers we've seen retains those elements but the final trailer focuses on the action and thrills. Just the way it should be.
