‘American Hustle' Director David O. Russell Writing New Project For Jennifer Lawrence? Will Nicholas Hoult’s Girlfriend Play Miracle Mop Inventor Joy Mangano?

The director of "American Hustle" and "The Silver Linings Playbook" David O. Russell is reportedly in early talks to rewrite and direct a biopic about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, and he has Jennifer Lawrence in mind to play the lead role.

Deadline reports that Russell is interested in taking over the project from Annie Mumulo, the "Bridesmaids" co-writer who has a script about Mangano, the Long Island single mom of three children who made a fortune when the Miracle Mop became an infomercial success.

"This is a rags-to-riches story of a woman who worked three jobs to support her kids and who overcame long odds to finally get her due with an invention that became an HSN sensation and allowed Mangano to clean up. It is a strong empowerment tale," Deadline reports.

Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell have successfully collaborated on his two last movies, winning her an Oscar for "The Silver Linings Playbook" and a nomination for "American Hustle."

Representatives for neither Russell nor Lawrence have commented on the reports.

However, as we previously reported, Jennifer Lawrence is rumored to be planning a year-long break from acting once she's finished filming the "Hunger Games" trilogy. Lawrence has worked on eight films in the past 12 months.

"She's going to have a long break for a year where she won't do anything. It's been non-stop for her and she deserves a rest," the "Silver Linings Playbook" producer Harvey Weinstein told the U.K.'s Sun on Sunday, referring to Lawrence's recent schedule, TIME magazine reports.

The producer explained: "Jennifer is too nice and will do people favours and agrees to do a movie like 'American Hustle' when she could have had a rest.

"She signed on to do 'Hunger Games' when she was young and wouldn't have realised how much it would dominate her life. But she's a professional and always will be."

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old actress is dating Nicholas Hoult, 24, who she met on the set of "X-Men: First Class" in 2011. They split in January, 2013 after dating for two years, due to their busy schedules. But the two stars bonded again in June while filming "X-Men: Days of Future Past" in Montreal and have been dating ever since, Hollywood Life reports.
