'Drop Dead Diva’ Former Cast Carter McIntyre Enlists In New USA Network Comedy; Joins Eliza Coupe, Jay Harrington In ‘Benched’

"Drop Dead Diva" former cast Carter McIntyre has enlisted as a regular in "Benched," a new USA Network comedy starring Eliza Coupe and Jay Harrington.

Carter McIntyre will play the character or Trent, the ex-fiance of Nina (played by Eliza Coupe of "Happy Endings") and also her foe in the courtroom, according to The Wrap.

Aside from Eliza Coupe and Jay Harrington, "Benched" also stars regulars Oscar Nunez and Jolene Purdy.

Carter McIntyre, who played Jane's guardian angel Luke, still appeared in a limited capacity in season 5 but ultimately bowed out of the Lifetime drama "Drop Dead Diva."

Aside from being part of the "Drop Dead Diva" cast, Carter McIntyre's other TV credits include ABC's "Mixology" and "Private Practice" as well as a recurring role on "Undercovers," created by J.J. Abrams.

"Benched" is the first project of ABC Signature which follows the character of Nina, a corporate attorney who was so focused on her career but after a public meltdown, she got bypassed from her expected promotion. She's trying to reinvent herself as a public attorney.

"Drop Dead Diva" cast Carter McIntyre's character in the tv series was eventually replaced by Justin Deeley who played Paul, whom TVLine described as having an "Abercrombie-ad body" with the happy-go-lucky attitude of a surfer.
