Tizen OS Update, Release Date: Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Brings Intel-Samsung OS Project To Devices; ZTE Geek Powered By New OS At MWC; Will We See A Tablet Soon?

Tizen OS update, release date: Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is now the first device, made available for public purchase that runs the Tizen OS. The Intel-Samsung OS project has already powered the ZTE Geek Smartphone, which was on display at the Mobile World Congress last month.

In a recent report by TizenExperts.com, it showed a picture of an allegedly leak Samsung NX MinI Camera, which the company recently launched. A quick look at the reviews on the product that debuted yesterday, dubbed as the “ultimate selfie camera,” and it showed no mention on what OS it’s running on.

Samsung’s move to push the Tizen platform to mobile devices increases the possibility (or hope) that we may see a Tizen-powered tablet very soon. It’s the first notable big step to cover the range of mobile gadgetry present.

A report by ArseTechnica noted that Samsung has released a “Tizen SDK for Wearable,” allowing anyone to create a Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch app. The app pool for the new Tizen-powered Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is starting from scratch, as it’s the first device to be powered with the OS.

The move by Samsung to try to create it’s own pool of apps based on its Tizen OS is a sign that the South Korean tech giant is aggressive in increasing adaption of the OS to numerous devices.

A January 2014 report by Android Police have noted that Samsung has sold 10 million Note 3 units alone in two months. This doesn’t count the number of Galaxy units devices sold, amongst other Android and Windows Phone-powered units by the company.

Last year, Engadget reported that a Tizen tablet has launched in Japan called the MeeGo. It was running Tizen 2.1 and is “built specifically for app development and product demonstrations.”
