‘Mad Men’ Season 7 Spoilers: Roger Sterling Actor John Slattery Wants ‘Nostalgic’ Finale, Says ‘It’s Time’ For Final Season Premiere

John Slattery, who plays Roger Sterling on "Mad Men," revealed new spoilers about season 7 to The Men's Journal. John Slattery revealed what he wants to see in the "Mad Men" season 7 finale, and he thinks it's time for the final season to premiere.

John Slattery has played Roger Sterling for seven years on "Mad Men," and now he thinks it's time for the show to end.

"I just don't know how much there is left to say," Slattery says about "Mad Men." "I'm not saying it's running out of gas - but we told the story. It's time to go."

The 51-year-old actor also revealed how he would like Mad Men to end, Enstarz reports.

"I think it would be cool to see the core group still there - the same four or five people who started Day One," he said. "But that's probably corny and nostalgic. That's probably not how it'll happen."

AMC recently released a promo trailer for "Mad Men" season 7, featuring more airplane and airport imagery.

The trailer stars Megan Draper (Jessica Pare), Roger, Betty (January Jones), Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) and Don (Jon Hamm), all shown in dramatic slow motion.

Vulture talked to "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner, and asked him about a time last year when he told NPR that season 7 would end on an "ambiguous note." The publication asked Weiner if this was still true for the final season, now that he's finished writing about nine episodes of season 7.

"You know, I think the context of that - and I'm not backtracking - is no matter how definitive I am with the show, it always seems to be ambiguous for the audience," Weiner said. "For me, that's just the nature of the show and the nature of the audience. Convincing the audience that Lane had actually died and was not coming back ... I mean, that's why we showed his body! I ended "Shut the Door, Have a Seat" with Don moving into a new apartment, Betty on a plane to Reno with her lover and her baby, and all that I heard about in the off-season was, "Are they getting divorced?" I had no idea that would be ambiguous. [When I said it would end on an ambiguous note] I was probably defensively preparing myself for all the crap you get when a show ends no matter what you do. I get it. I watch TV. Hopefully it will be a loss for the audience that it's going away. It's been a long relationship. I don't think anyone's going to be happy about it. [Laughs.]"

"Mad Men" season 7 premieres Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. on AMC.
