Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Smartwatch Price Is $295; Specs & Design Of Wearable W/ Tizen OS Is 6G Lighter Than Original, Feat. Super AMOLED With 320 x 320 Res

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 review, specs: Specs and design of the Tizen OS-running Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is 6 grams lighter than its predecessor and a features a Super AMOLED display. It’s official price has been announced at $295. The new wearable by the South Korean tech giant also now has the camera on the watch itself, allowing the user to interchange the strip.

According to PC Pro U.K., the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 processor has been upgraded to 1GHz and the display remains the same as before. The Super AMOLED panel measures 1.63 inches across the diagonal and has a resolution of 320 x 320. The colors of the unit are bright and intensely saturated.

The major changes of the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is with the hardware. The unit’s camera has moved from the strap to the body of the watch, enabling the user to swap the strap of the unit whenever. Available colors of the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 straps include black, brown, and orange while a number of designer options are expected to follow.

Other features of the second version of the Samsung Galaxy Gear include water and dust-resistance capability. There’s also an infrared transmitter to enable the watch to double as a TV remote. A heart-rate monitor is equipped in the unit, placed at the rear of the watch body, which can be used in conjunction with its pedometer facility to keep a closer eye on the user’s fitness.

PC Pro U.K. noted that the reduction on the size also means that the battery is smaller than the previous version. Samsung, however, is claiming a threefold improvement in the battery life of the device thanks in part to the efficiency that the Tizen OS would bring.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 still would be an accompanying wearable for a Samsung smartphone. The device will go on sale this April.
