Harry Potter Spinoff Snubbed by Daniel Radcliffe? J.K. Rowling Says ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” Not A Prequel To Huge 8-Part Film Franchise

The Harry Potter spinoff hasn't really taken off yet and Daniel Radcliffe is already balking at donning the robe and reprising the role of a boy wizard once more. But he doesn't have to worry as J.K. Rowling insisted that "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is not a sequel to the mega-hit 8-part film franchise.

Although Daniel Radcliffe isn't entirely closing his door into being a part of the Harry Potter spinoff, "I don't know under what circumstances I could be convinced that it would be a good idea to do it again," he told NY Daily News.

However, he is not entirely opposed to a Harry Potter spinoff, the only problem is he's too old by then.

"I'm going to be 25 this year and Harry's a character that sort of ended at the age of 17," he said. "I'm getting a little long in the tooth to be wearing a schoolboy's outfit."

Based on the timeline of the Harry Potter spinoff "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," it's difficult to integrate an old Harry Potter into a setting that's at least 70 years before a very young Daniel Radcliffe was introduced.

Author J.K. Rowling also apparently has not thought about linking the Harry Potter spinoff with the 8-part film franchise. In a statement released by the author last year, she said:

"Although it will be set in a worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the 'Harry Potter' series, but an extension of the wizarding world."

The book was originally published as a standalone in 2001, to raise money for charity, separate from the world of Hogwarts. It's about the book that is required reading for Harry Potter and other freshmen in Hogwarts written by a magizoologist Newt Scamander, popcrush said. A magizoologist is a scholar who studies magical creatures.
