James Franco's Instagram scandal went viral which prompted the 35-year-old actor to issue a public apology. Recently, the 'Spiderman' actor chatted 17-year-old Lucy Clode from Dollar, Clackmananshire and tried to ask her for a hotel meet-up.

Franco didn't continue the chat upon knowing that the girl was only 17. However, Clode took screenshots of the online conversation. In his interview on Live with Kelly and Michael, the 'Tristan and Isolde' actor explained that he made use of "bad judgment" in the James Franco Instagram scandal.

"I'm embarrassed, and I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky. It's a way people meet each other today, but what I've learned, I guess just 'cause I'm new to it, it's like you don't know who's on the other end. I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson," he said.

He likewise added that being a celebrity added to the shame: "Unfortunately in my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but if I do that, then it gets published for the world so it's doubly embarrassing."

As a birthday present, Clode went to New York with her mother. They then met Franco and Clode asked to have a photo with him. Clode uploaded the photo and tagged the 'Of Mice and Men' actor which was the reason why Franco was able to track her.

"James Franco asked me to meet him! It was really him and I rejected him!" Clode told her friend on Instagram.

Talk show host Kelly Ripa comforted Franco by saying, "You know, I think the way you came out here and handled it is perfectly acceptable, it happens to everybody, and I think it happens to movie stars on a much grander scale like you just said because everybody knows who you are and I promise I will not reveal our text messages!"
