Harry Potter Spinoff: J.K. Rowling Screen Writes “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them”; Bonnie Wright Excited For The Film?

The Harry Potter spinoff "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them" will get a much needed artistic boost as J.K. Rowling will screen write her own book. And she might be choosing between Alfonso Cuarón and Terry Gilliam to helm the movie adaptation. Meanwhile, Bonnie Wright has talked about the upcoming film.

In the Harry Potter films, Steve Kloves wrote all the screenplays save for the "Order of the Phoenix," which was written by Michael Goldenberg.

J.K. Rowling's "direct involvement as the screenwriter, however, could make 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' a hit," wrote Leo Sun for Daily Finance.

He also said that J.K. Rowling has always admired Terry Gilliam and was "her first choice to direct 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'" because of the overall dark tone of his works unlike Chris Columbus which are more or less "family-friendly."

Terry Gilliam, for his part, criticized Chris Columbus' output for "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." Alfonso Cuarón's direction in "Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban" was praised by Terry Gilliam, however.

"Therefore, Gilliam or Cuarón could be Rowling's top choice to direct the new films.

"In my opinion, Cuarón has a better chance of landing the job, considering his recent direction of Warner Bros.' Oscar-nominated film 'Gravity' and his previous work on 'The Prisoner of Azkaban,'" Leo Sun added.

Meanwhile, Bonnie Wright who played Ginny Weasley doesn't expect to play a part in the Harry Potter spinoff, which is only logical since the events in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" occurred years before her character was even born.

"I think we all took our characters to where they could be taken and I think it's exciting for the next story that she's going to tell, and the people who are going to be involved," she told Ricky Camilleri of HuffPost Live.

Earlier, Daniel Radcliffe told CBS that he's not keen on reprising his role as a schoolboy, although Emma Watson hopes to be cast in the new film.
