Leighton Meester, Adam Brody Movie 'Life Partners' Made Newlyweds Closer; 'I'm Biased But He's Incredible In It,' Says 'Gossip Girl' Star

Leighton Meester, Adam Brody's movie 'Life Partners' shows a glimpse of the couple's chemistry. Though extremely private with their relationship, the two immediately agreed to work on the same movie. After all, it is a chance for them to remember what it's like to work together just like on the set of 'Oranges' wherein they met and fell in love in 2011.

The film, which will make its debut at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, has a synopsis which reads:

"The comedy is about a codependent friendship between two very different girls-type-A Paige (Gillian Jacobs) and lesbian slacker Sasha (Leighton Meester)-who have made a pact. Paige has vowed that she won't get married until Sasha has the same legal right. All is fine until Paige meets Tim (Brody), a young and charming doctor. As the relationship heats up, Paige and Sasha have to learn how to work Tim into their friendship."

When asked about her husband's performance in the film, the brunette beauty gushed: "That pesky guy. That came along just by chance. I was like, 'I'm gonna be playing the person you're not dating. That OK? I'm gonna be playing the opposite of that.' And yeah, I'm biased -- but he's incredible in it."

The 29-year-old 'Montecarlo' star likewise implied that it the movie was a chance for them to bond: "It was the best. We basically got to say whatever came to our minds. There was a lot of improv."

Meester is currently in New York for the Broadway production of 'Of Mice and Men'. She plays the role of Curley's desirable wife. However, her performance has been criticized by New York Times reviewer Ben Brantley:

"Then there's Curley's wife, who is said to be a slatternly, provocative sex kitten. The glamorous, pencil-thin Ms. Meester (of "Gossip Girl" fame, and not embarrassing) provides no evidence of being anything of the kind."

Brantley has been called "a liitle b****" by James Franco for the less than stellar review of the show.
