Foo Fighters Tour 2014: Fans Petitioning For The Foos To Perform Can Really Happen; Dave Grohl And The Rest Of His Band Plays Shocking Show In DC

Foo Fighters Tour 2014: A few months ago, fans in Richmond, Virginia petitioned for the band to play in their town. A few months later, the Foo Fighters somehow gave the fans what they were asking for after the band played a surprise show in Washington DC last May 5.

At a 9.30 club in DC, a billed "special guest" was seen in the club and later that night, Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters went on stage to perform a 20-song long set for the shocked fans. The band played hits such as Times Like These, My Hero, All My Life and even Everlong, among others.

The night was supposed to be a birthday party for Big Tony, who was a friend of Grohl's and a musical hero whom he looked up to when Dave was starting his musical career.

Meanwhile, while the Foo Fighters Tour is on the way, the band is reportedly half way through their new album, who is produced by "Wasting Light" and Nirvana's "Nevermind" producer, Butch Vig.

Speaking to Kerrang!, he said: "We've been recording at some different locations, but we're almost halfway done with the recording and it's going well.

"It sounds different - we've thrown a few things into the mix, in the recording process, that are going to give the record a different sound and a different feel. It's been a challenge, but it's also been exciting."

In an interview of the band in Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl pointed out that the new album of the Foo Fighters would be something different that would surely surprise fans.

"It's badass. We're doing something that nobody knows about, it's f---ing rad. We're doing it in a way that no one's done before and we're writing the album in a way that I don't think has been done before."
