Michael Wacha (2-3, 2.55) limited the Pirates to two hits over seven scoreless innings in a 9-2 victory Sept. 8. He then yielded one run and one hit in 7 1/3 innings in a 2-1 win in Game 4 of the division series Oct. 7, according to ESPN.com. He will be on the hill against a Pirates team that is trying to fight their way back to first place.

The right-hander is 0-3 in his last four starts despite a 3.09 ERA, largely due to a 1.93 run-support average. He gave up a two-run homer in the sixth inning of a 3-0 road loss to the Cubs on Saturday.

"It's just frustrating, really," Wacha told ESPN.com. "I was pitching well and if I was able to get out of a jam there. ... But I served one up there and they go up two runs. You just can't afford that in that situation."

The Cardinals have 17 runs and going 12 for 33 (.364) with runners in scoring position. Matt Holliday drove in three runs in Wednesday's 7-1 victory at Atlanta, and Matt Carpenter went 3 for 4 to improve to 8 for 15 over his last four games as St. Louis is playing much better baseball of late.

"I wish we didn't have an off day tomorrow because of how well we swung the bats today," Peter Bourjos, who hit his first home run as a Cardinal, told the team's official website. "It would be nice to keep this rolling."
