Manny Pacquiao Update: Juan Manuel Marquez Fight In November More Likely After Surprise Ruslan Provodnikov Loss

After his convincing victory over Timothy Bradley Jr. to regain the WBO Welterweight crown, there has not been a lot of Manny Pacquiao update news aside from his plans to coach for a professional basketball team in the Philippines.

In recent weeks, only two names have been resounding as to who the Pacman will fight in November. Juan Manuel Marquez, who knocked out Pacquiao in their fourth encounter, or Ruslan Provodnikov, the Russian brawler known for his face-first attack.

Unforunately for the Siberian Rocky, he met a tough matchup in Chris Algieri Saturday night. And after scoring multiple knockdowns in the first round, Provodnikov failed to materialize in the latter rounds as Algieri boxed and moved around the ring.

Algieri took home the Light Welterweight title via split decision against a stunned Provodnikov. Now, the Russian's hopes of facing Pacquiao this year has greatly dimmed.

Now that the Russian brawler is out of the picture, It is Marquez who is seemingly at the top of the waiting list for the Filipino champion's next opponent.

During the previous decade, both fighters have cemented their names in the boxing Hall Of Fame with impressive performances, and their fights with one another certainly were not exceptions. December 2012 was particularly entertaining as both boxers gave everything they got, until late in the sixth round where Marquez unleashed a wicked right cross that sent the Filipino champion face first to the canvas.

We could all think how huge that victory was for Marquez, and now it is all up to him whether he would fight the Pacman for the fifth time.

Unfortunately, previous reports say that Marquez believes he has won all of his four fights with Pacquiao, and he insists that he should be paid on even terms.

However, the Mexican Hall Of Famer wants another title.

"I want that fifth championship, and if that does not exist for me then I'm closer to retirement."

Still, there is hope.
