The Huawei Ascend P6 is directly competing with a sea of budget-friendly Android handsets in the market today. A key competitor as well is the Nexus 5 which is Google-branded.

This begs the question: Is this device worth your money for its price?

The Nexus 5, the flagship of Google’s Android has been hailed for its design, performance and updated OS. The Google branded device is priced at $350 for an unlocked unit. There are also the lower-end Nokia X, Moto G and the newly launched Moto E, all well designed and with the latest Android OS for less than $200. Based on reviews, however, the Ascend P6 shows some edge.

This slim smartphone with a 6.18 mm thickness and an HD display of 1280 x 720 pixels is deemed a true value hit. It helps that the 8 megapixel main camera of the handset can capture macro shots from as close as 4 centimeters. The front-facing camera has a powerful 5MP camera that makes for great selfies.

The KitKat update for the P6 was supposedly scheduled for February, but developments have seemed to hamper the progress. According to reports, the rollout on the Huawei Ascend P6 has been delayed until early March. However, it’s been only this month when a widespread rollout and update for the P6 to numerous regions have been evident.

Huawei Ascend P6 was officially announced in June 2013. According to Phone Arena, the P6 is one of the slimmest smartphone in the market with a thickness of only 6.18 mm.
