Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: Is The Galaxy Prime Actually The Galaxy S5 LTE-A For Korea? Packs 5.1" QHD Display, 3GB RAM

With just a few weeks before we officially finish half of the year, one of the anticipated and upcoming Samsung phones for 2014 has finally been announced.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A has been announced and is now available in the South Korean market.

Looking at the Galaxy S5 LTE-A's design, it looks just like the original S5 which launched several months ago. However, the Android handset packs some serious specs inside.

In the report, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A boasts a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution display, a first for Samsung in a smartphone, and 3GB of RAM, which is also the highest the Korean manufacturer has ever placed in a smartphone.

To make the handset more montrous in terms of performance, Samsung adds the Snapdragon 805 chipset, and four Krait 450 cores which are all clocked at 2.5GHz. For extreme performance in games and other visual applications, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A packs the latest Adreno 420 GPU.

Aside from the improved inner specs, the new Galaxy S5 version packs identical specs to the original.

In case you missed the unveiling of the Galaxy S5 back in February, Samsung's current international flagship packs a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, a 16MP primary camera, a 2MP front shooter and Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box.

The LTE-A enabled smartphone also has the fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor, and water resistance of the first Galaxy S5 which is now available in over 100 markets worldwide.

Another key difference between the two is the LTE Advanced connectivity which is reportedly three times as fast as the ordinary LTE. However, it is only available in a few countries at the moment.

In the report, the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A will retail at 940,500 Korean Won or about $919.
