Cheap Android Phones 2014: Samsung Adds To Entry Level Lineup With Galaxy Core 2, Pocket 2

In spite its expensive handsets, Samsung is undeniably one of the manufacturers who develop cheap Android phones for 2014, which only means the Korean tech giant values not just the high-end smartphone market, but the entry-level as well. 

In a recent report by GSM Arena, the Korean manufacturer has added yet a couple of handsets which would be appealing for the not-so-financially-well-off portion of the market. 

Dubbed as the G355H Galaxy Core 2 Duos, it would be easy to recognize the device as a dual-SIM smartphone. However inside lies some decent specs which would make it an ideal option for first time Android users. 

The phone packs a 4.5-inch WVGA display, a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU and a 5MP rear camera with LED flash. Unfortunately, processing power and multitasking is limited for the Core 2 Duos because of the underpowered 768MB RAM that comes with only 4GB of built in memory. 

Thankfully there is a microSD card slot, a 2,000mAh battery and a VGA front facing camera. 

Meanwhile, the other entry-level handset is much more humble when it comes to specs. The Samsung G110H Galaxy Pocket 2 packs a small 3.2-inch display with QVGA resolution, dual-SIM support, a 2MP rear camera at the back and surprisingly a VGA front shooter as well. 

The Android phone runs on a single core 1GHz processor paired with just 512MB RAM. 

In spite the entry-level specs, both devices run on the latest Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat version which is a major plus. The Galaxy Core 2 Duos is priced at about $190 while the Galaxy Pocket 2 gets a much cheaper price tag of $85. 

Samsung has truly mastered the art of smartphone development, and whether you are talking about its monstrous Galaxy S and Note lineups or the entry level to midrange Mega, Pocket, Ace and Core, the Korean manufacturer really knows what it is doing.
