Doctor Who Season 8 Spoilers: The Return Of The Master [PHOTO]

If you are a fan of Doctor Who, you can barely hear the "the Master" without hearing those ominous four beats that accompany him wherever he goes. According to reports from the Daily Star, we can expect the Master's return this season.

The Master has been a recurring character since 1971, and was last seen in 2010, the latest incarnation being played by John Simm. He was last seen in "The End of Time." When he was a partially resurrected, hyper ravenous, semi-zombie, he failed at an attempt to rewrite Time Lord DNA with his own, and realized that the beat he heard in his head was actually a signal put there by the Time Lords. Once he realized that he was and always had been pawn of the Time Lord President. He followed the Time Lords back into the Time War, presumably to get revenge for a lifetime of manipulation.

But when the latest doctor, Capaldi, sent Gallifrey to another dimension in the latest special, it opened up the possibility of returning not only The Master but the Time Lord race as well.

In the upcoming series The Doctor will travel to Lanzarote, a scene of a previous adventure in a 1984 episode called Planet of Fire. The last time he was there events heavily centered around The Master.

According to the Daily Star, "The Master will make a sensational return from the grave for a finale of the new series. Bosses have secretly plotted to bring the Time Lord's  arch enemy back for a big cliffhanger. And it's rumored they are looking for a Hollywood actor to take on the role. Filming will take place next month but will be done inside a TV studio to avoid spoilers." It should be noted that this article does contain some very basic errors about the chronology of the show, and manages to completely confuse the two deaths of The Master.

Ex-Time Lord actor Sylvester McCoy, 70, also teased at a fan convention earlier this year that the schemer might be back.
