2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Kevin Love To Golden State Deal Off!! Warriors Don't Want Kevin Martin, 'One Of The Worst Defensive Players!'

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions started to heat up when Kevin Love was a few steps away from becoming a Golden State Warrior. However, that deal has reached an impasse as the Warriors found a condition imposed by Minnesota unacceptable.

The breaking news came from ESPN: "The Golden State Warriors have hit an impasse in their trade pursuit of All-Star forward Kevin Love due to what is being described as an 'organizational split' on the willingness to part with prized shooting guard Klay Thompson, according to sources close to the process."

The 'organizational split' they are referring to is that the Warriors organization has four people making decisions.  Owner Joe Lacob and GM Bob Myers were reportedly agreeable to trading Klay Thompson but Hall of Fame team consultant and new head coach Steve Kerr were opposed to the idea.

According to Tim Kawakami of San Jose Mercury News: "If my source is anywhere close on this -- and I believe he is -- the Warriors won't even consider putting Thompson into any deal that includes them taking Martin, period. You see, Martin has three years, $22.2M left on his contract. And also, he's not very good -- one of the worst defensive players in the league and a scorer who doesn't do much of anything else offensively."

Martin would be the opposite of Klay Thompson and would probably clash with team superstar Stephen Curry. West and Kerr, who have actually played the game believe that it might be too much of a price to pay for Kevin Love.

Hope is not lost on the deal though. GM Bob Myers was quoted (from ESPN): "Right now, I think it's unlikely. Right now. Today." The emphasis on the present means that the deal could develop in the future.

The Golden State Warriors are a good team, and the past two seasons, they dealt with major injuries to their big men (David Lee and Andrew Bogut respectively) as they marched into the playoffs. While Kevin Love is a major prize, they cannot destroy team culture that they have built just to acquire him.
