Upcoming Android Phones 2014: The Oppo R3 Is A Super Slim LTE Phone With Midrange Specs

If you are looking for upcoming Android phones for 2014 which you can easily slide into your pocket, do not look further.

Chinese manufacturer Oppo has recently announced that its new Oppo R3 smartphone would be the world's slimmest smartphone.

Well, with only 6.3mm of waistline, it's still slightly thicker than the Gionee Elife S5.5. However, as far as LTE enabled smartphones are concerned, this is certainly the slimmest of them all.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Oppo is not a monster phone when it comes to specs. As for other devices in this price range, Oppo does its job well in keeping the phone looking good in spite midrange specs.

The Oppo R3 packs a 5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a Snapdragon 400 chipset, which should be enough for casual smartphone users, 1GB of RAM for multi-tasking, an 8GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot.

Unfortunately, the Oppo R3 only runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, but let's hope it would be upgraded to Kit Kat soon enough.

Other specs include an 8MP primary camera at the back which is made by Sony, and a 5MP front-facaing camera for selfies and video calls.

As far as design and build goes, the Oppo R3 stands up there with sleek-looking phones, thanks to its unibody aluminum frame. The material used would certainly make the owner feel the phone like its more expensive than it actually is.

However, in reality, the Oppo R3 is a cheap midranger and only costs CNY 2,300 or about $370. For a smartphone that supports LTE, has decent specs, a sleek design and a very thin frame, that cost is certainly reasonable.

Details for international availability were not yet announced. So do you think your next phone would be the R3 from Oppo?
