Nexus 9 Release Date: HTC-Developed Nexus Slate Leaked, Rumored Specs Incl. 8.9" Display, NVIDIA Tegra K1 Chip, 2GB RAM, 8MP Primary Shooter

For the earlier half of this year, rumor has it that the Nexus 9 release date would be somewhere in October and November. Another rumored report was that as potentially the final Nexus device, it would be developed by HTC, which was the first manufacturer to work with Google for a Nexus phone back when Android was born.

Now, a recent report tells us that the device could be on its final stages of development as most of its specs have been leaked, together with some possible pricing details.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the device is codenamed Volantis or Flounder and sports an 8.9-inch display. Interestingly, in spite the display size, the HTC Nexus 9 features a 2048 x 1440 resolution, and not the 16:10 aspect ratios which most Nexus tablets have in the past.

The image above was a render by Android Police based on the leaked image, and we can say that they did a good job.

In case you are the type of Android user who always looks on specs, here are some of the features which you would get from the Nexus 9.

In the report, the tablet packs an aluminum build with front speakers, the latest NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset, 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.

In the camera department, the Nexus 9 boasts an 8MP primary shooter with optical image stabilization, and there would be a 3MP front facing cam as well for selfie shots and video call functions.

While all the leaked specs are impressive, the report says that the Nexus 9 will cost $399 for the 16GB model and $499 for the 32GB edition. LTE-supported versions could go up to more than $600. That's pretty expensive for a Nexus device.

We will bring you more details about this device in the coming weeks.
