New Android Phones 2014: HTC's Butterfly 2 Appears In Taiwanese Certification Site, Rumored Specs Incl. 5" Display, Snapdragon 800, Quad-Core Krait 400 CPU

With the bunch of new Android phones in 2014, any manufacturer should be able to keep their devices unique so that it would stand out amidst the competition.

HTC knows very well how to do this in terms of design, build, and the features its phones have. Unfortunately, it fails miserably on the advertising part.

However, in case the handset does have an attracive price tag, advertising may not be that important. And that is how HTC has been selling thousands of Android phones in China - in minutes.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Taiwanese based manufacturer may already be brewing another Android phone release, this time headed to its home market.

An HTC phone with a model model number B810x has been spotted on the Taiwanese NCC which is the equivalent of the FCC in the US. Believed as the Butterfly 2, the device sports similar dimensions to its predecessor.

The phone packs a still impressive 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at around 2.2-2.3GHz, and a Snapdragon 800 chipset.

Late in 2012, a lot of people were surprised that HTC has unveiled a device before the year ends. However, it looked like it would become the trend as the Taiwanese manufacturer launched the One max by the same time last year.

The first HTC Butterfly was unmatched when it made its debut in Verizon as the Droid Max, but it just didn't sell well. Still, it packed the world's first ever Full HD display, before the Sony Xperia Z packed its own 1080p screen during the CES of the following year.

The Butterfly 2 showing up on Taiwan's NCC just means that it would launch sooner rather than later. Let us just hope that this Android-powered handset would also be available in other markets.
