LeBron James Free Agent Again! Teams Will Try To Take Him, But Will The King Leave His Kingdom In Miami?

The  big question was answered sooner than later. LeBron James, the best player in the world is now a free agent.  He can talk and negotiate with any team in the league at any price, at any term. Any team, including the Miami Heat.

No less than Miami Heat President Pat Riley issued his statement(courtesy of ESPN): "I was informed this morning of his intentions. We fully expected LeBron to opt out and exercise his free-agent rights, so this does not come as a surprise. As I said at the press conference last week, players have a right to free agency and, when they have these opportunities, the right to explore their options.

The last four seasons have been historic, and LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Erik Spoelstra have led the Miami Heat to one of the most unprecedented runs in the history of the NBA. We look forward to sitting down with LeBron and his representatives and talking about our future together. At the moment, we are preparing for the opportunities in the draft and free agency as we continue with our goal of winning NBA championships."

While LeBron James' decision has been made, his intentions behind the move are still up in the air. Does he really want to leave Miami or does he want to work with Pat Riley (along with Wade and Bosh) to build a better team? This will reflect a lot on the relationship between the Heat organization and James.

In 2010, it should be noted that it was the players' decision to band together and Wade convinced them to take Miami as the landing spot. It was easy because all three players were under the same agency at that time (CAA). This time, LeBron James has his own agent (Rich Paul) and he is expected to act alone. Also, in 2010, James, Wade and Bosh were pretty much the top free agents, there was hardly any talent gap between them so it was alright to take identical paychecks.

That's not the case now. Wade is a shadow of his former self and it can only get worse. Bosh has been too passive. Even then, Miami is still the frontrunner to sign LeBron but they need to make changes. The Miami will not be a 'Big Three' team anymore-whether LeBron returns or not.
