2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Blake Griffin Untouchable! LA Clippers Declare Dunk Champion 'Off Limits' In Trade Even For LeBron James!

The easiest way for the LA Clippers to acquire LeBron James has just been scratched off the table. Do not even start talking about a Blake Griffin for LeBron trade.

Doc Rivers, head coach and now Clippers president, has assured Blake Griffin that he is simply 'untouchable.'

From ESPN:

"The Los Angeles Clippers have strong interest in pursuing LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony if they can clear the requisite salary cap space to make a maximum-level offer to the superstars, who have both elected to become free agents starting July 1.

One player they have no interest in moving, however, is forward Blake Griffin. While the Clippers would need to move significant players and money to make a run at either James or Anthony, sources told ESPN that Clippers president and coach Doc Rivers has told Griffin on numerous occasions that he considers him 'untouchable' in any trade."

That seems logical as Blake Griffin's presence is one primary factor of what makes the Clippers attractive as for LeBron James. If they were traded for each other, the Clippers would still be better because of how James can involve his teammates-but that will not make them fearsome.

There are some skeptics on this statement. They believe that if push comes to shove, any team would trade any player for LeBron James. And these observers also argue that LeBron would join the Clippers even without Griffin. ESPN also cites that:

"..if James were to leave Miami, the Clippers would be among his preferred destinations because of the strength of their roster and his close relationships with Chris Paul and coach Doc Rivers. Paul is one of James' best friends and the two have talked about playing with each other since they were in high school, when they met on the AAU and prep all-star circuits. Paul is godfather to James' son Bryce and they were in each other's weddings."

A CP3-LeBron tandem would attract veteran title chasers in a way that a CP3-Blake combo would not. There are a lot of anxious free agents approaching the twilight of their career without any titles, and playing with Chris Paul and LeBron would be worth the financial sacrifice.
