LG G3 Specs: LG's New Flagship Undergoes Extensive Water Test, What Are The Results?

When it was announced late in May, one of the most asked questions about the LG G3 specs is whether it is water resistant or not. It never mentioned anything about being water proof, but a previous water test proved that it can withstand water or liquid-related accidents.

Keeping that in mind, another test surfaced according to a report by BGR, this time putting the LG G3's alleged water resistance to the test.

Unfortunately, the LG G3 did not survive, and it is safe to say that the flagship phone from LG is not waterproof.

In comparison, both the Sony Xperia Z2 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 are water resistant, which definitely adds to their appeal as smartphones. As a device that comes much later, the G3 was expected by many to be waterproof, butthe Korean manufacturer decided not to include the feature here.

Not having water and dust resistance surely would not hurt the G3's potential sales in a big way. Let's take for example, the HTC One M8, which after its announcement was said to be water proof after it was subjected to a water test. While it did survive the test, there is still no word from the company whether it has IP 47 certification or not.

Still, HTC's flagship has been selling well in markets where it is available such as in the UK, EU, Asia and the US. It is priced somewhere in the $700, but that's completely understandable considering the huge and impressive display as well as the 3GB of RAM.

LG's G3 has far more selling points than the One M8, including its huge phablet-like 5.5-inch display with a whopping QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built in storage, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core CPU and the 13MP OIS-powered rear camera.
