Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: LG Will Soon Join The WP 8.1 Party, Other Devices Allegedly Under Development As Well

There are a number of upcoming Windows phones for 2014 which are currently under way, including the ones from Indian OEMs, as well as a few from China.

However, aside from Nokia, two of the other established manufacturers in the smartphone industry which are expected to join to join the WP 8.1 bandwagon are Samsung ang LG.

Samsung has already launched its WP 8.1 powered device, dubbed as the ATIV SE, which packs year-old flagship specs, but with the latest version of Microsoft's mobile platform.

But wait, LG will not be outdone by its Korean rival, and so a new report shows that the manufacturer is prepping its own device as well.

According to a report by GSM Arena, a Program Manager from Microsoft has updated his LinkedIn profile and 'shares' that he is working with LG for several devices including a smartphone, PCs and TVs.

Interestingly, while the smartphone will be powered by Windows Phone Blue, all of the other devices would get Windows Threshold. In the report, it is a future version of Microsoft's OS that would bridge the gap between operating systems across Windows-powered devices.

While Android is still struggling in that department at this point in time that the fragmentation is already widespread, Microsoft can start right as only a handful of the market are Windows Phone users.

Of course, we still cannot confirm the authenticity of the post, so we better take this with a grain of salt.

As for LG, the Korean manufacturer is currently at the top of the hype of its flagship device, the LG G3, and upcoming versions of it are coming soon, including the LG G3 mini, and the G3 Beat.

But with the Korean company's development of its upcoming Windows phones for 2014, it is trying to expand its market and overtake Samsung in other areas while their Android rivalry still heavily favors its Korean neighbor.
