Floyd Mayweather Jr. News: Pound-For-Pound King Will Take Rematch Against Argentinian Marcos Maidana

The latest Floyd Mayweather Jr. news will surely excite most hardcore boxing fans. 

According to a report by ESPN, the pound-for-pound king has agreed and officially announced on social media that the rematch with Marcos Maidana from Argentina is set for September 13 at the MGM Grand Arena. 

Mayweather-Maidana II -- dubbed "Mayhem" -- will go down Sept. 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and headline a Showtime PPV card, the fourth bout of Mayweather's six-fight deal with Showtime/CBS. 

In their May 3 bout, Maidana gave Mayweather probably the best fight we have seen in years. The Argentinian's full attack offense has taken Money by surprise. 

For the first time in years, Floyd's fans may have been anxious to hear the decision by the judges after the fight. But when the scorecards were announced, Mayweather (46-0, 26 KOs) won 117-111, 116-112 and 114-114 -- to unify 147-pound world titles. 

However, as far as Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) is concerned, he absolutely believed that he had won the fight, after giving Mayweather punishment like never seen before. 

Some boxing experts even compared Maidana to the old school Manny Pacquiao who always charged towards his opponents without second thought. However, the Argentinian faltered in the latter rounds after Mayweather adjusted his strategy. 

In their second encounter, it would be very entertaining to see whether Maidana would once againt surprise Mayweather with a new strategy, or would he just bore him with the same tactic he used in their May fight. 

Come September, we will whether Money just escaped with a decision, or if Maidana is just a one-fight sensation. 

After Mayweather, Maidana is eyeing Pacquiao as his next opponent. As of the moment, a Mayweather-Pacquiao bout is highly unlikely, due to problems with earnings division, random drug testing, and of course the issue between Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank.
