George RR Martin Says Says ‘F**** You’ To Game Of Thrones Readers Due To Death Speculations: When Will HBO Series Catch Up To A Song Of Ice And Fire?

Impatient followers of the Game of Thrones books have been slammed by George RR Martin in a recent interview with a Swiss daily newspaper.

Hungry for tales of Westeros, and more plot lines for the Emmy-nominated HBO television show which just aired season 4, some fans have been worried whether the 65-year-old author would be able to finish the series.

When Tages-Anzeiger asked the Game of Thrones author about these fears, he was unimpressed. "I find that question pretty offensive, frankly, when people start speculating about my death and my health, so f*** you to those people," he said.

George then raised his middle finger at the camera to drive his message home.

The Game of Thrones books, a series called "A Song of Ice and Fire", were first published back in 1996. George RR Martin is currently working on the sixth book of the series, entitled "The Winds of Winter". A teaser chapter from the book was published back in March this year on George's website, no doubt to satisfy clamouring fans.

"The new chapter is actually an old chapter. But not, it's not one I've published or posted before, and I don't even think I've read it at a con... So it's new in that it is material that no one but my editors (well, and Parris, and David and Dan, and a few others) have ever seen before," wrote George.

The latest interview with Tages-Anzeiger is not the first time that the author has responded to pressure from readers for the next instalment of their favourite series. The Guardian wrote that back in 2009, as fans became more insistent that George finish "A Dance with Dragons", the author of the Game of Thrones books acknowledged their frustration. "Some of you don't want me attending conventions, teaching workshops, touring and doing promo... More wasting time, when I should be at home working on A Dance with Dragons," said George.
