Angelina Jolie News: ‘Maleficent’ Star Taking Legal Action Against Daily Mail For ‘Gross Violation of Privacy’, After Alleged Drug Video Published

Angelina Jolie news has been coming thick and fast this week, as an old video of the actress allegedly under the influence of heroin surfaced online.

The "Maleficent" star was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after the National Enquirer originally published the 16 minute video, shot in the late 1990s. In the video, Ms. Jolie is seen talking on the phone in an anxious manner, running her hands through her hair and walking around an apartment. The video was soon picked up by the Daily Mail and published to an even wider audience, much to Angelina Jolie's displeasure.

"She views the Daily Mail's publication of the video as a 'gross violation of her privacy'," said TIME.

The British publication ran a lengthy piece alongside this footage of the latest Angelina Jolie news, detailing the star's life and past struggles. Ms. Jolie has often been quite open in the past about her previous drug use and issues, but this latest development appears to have gone a step too far for the actress.

The video is not a glowing representation of Angelina Jolie, and the Daily Mail reports the person behind the camera to be a "self-confessed New York drug dealer named Franklin Meyer". The story goes on to state that Franklin Meyer "managed to capture the essence of a druggie... blotchy faced, hollow-eyed, painfully thin and talking tedious drivel".

This development in Angelina Jolie news comes alongside similar criticism from George Clooney towards the same news outlet. Mr. Clooney has now published two opinion pieces in regards to a Daily Mail story, and later an apology, about his fiancee's family. Following the release of the apology to the actor, the "Gravity" star didn't hold back.

"Either they were lying originally or they're lying now," he wrote for USA Today.
