Chicago Bulls Roster Might Include Anthony As Veteran Free Agent Weighs What-If's Between Chicago And New York, Gasol A Prospect As Well?

The Chicago Bulls roster is not that good in paper anymore, especially after a number of its talents have since moved on since the loss to the Miami Heat in 2011 during Derrick Rose's MVP season.

While the team has tried to acquire the firepower it can get over the past few years, the Bulls still fell short in their recent trips to the Playoffs after being outplayed by Iguodala's Sixers in the series where Rose injured his ACL in 2012, outmatched by LeBron's Heat in 2013, and then suffered defeat in the hands of John Wall and the Wizards.

However, this year is shaping up to be an interesting year for the NBA, as several high-profile players became free agents - some of which by opting out of the final years of their contracts. Since the beginning of the free agency period, the Bulls' sights were on scoring machine Carmelo Anthony.

After two weeks of waiting, Melo has yet to make a decision while his counterpart, LeBron James has already decided earlier today to return home in Cleveland, Ohio.

However, recent reports from Bleacher Report and ESPN state that the Lakers are already out for the running as to who will land Anthony.

In an exclusive by Sports Center, sources say that Melo is deciding between Chicago and New York. Winning-wise, Melo should be headed to the Bulls as his stay there would allow him to forge a new path, just like what James is doing right now. However, he will have to leave almost half of the salary offered by the Knicks on the table.

In spite Anthony's indecision, Chicago has already set plan B's for itself as a precaution. In a report, the team is luring over star forward Pau Gasol who opted out of his contract in Los Angeles.

So while the best player for the Bulls would be Anthony, landing Gasol and forming a twin tower combination with Joakim Noah is not bad either.
