Sony Xperia Z2 Compact Release Date: Mini version’s Spec Incl. 4.3” Display, Android 4.4, 2 BG RAM, 20.7 MP Camera; High Hopes For The Next Xperia Compact

Sony Xperia Z2 compact release date: The rumored “mini me” version of the Sony Xperia Z2 sports a 4.3-inch Triluminos display with a 720x1280 HD resolution, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 20.7 Megapixel camera, running on Android 4.4 KiKat and powered by an unspecified 2.2GHz quad-core processor.

After an impressive release of the Xperia Z1 Compact last year as the miniature version of the Xperia Z1, the bar is set high for the upcoming release of the compact version of Sony’s latest flagship smartphone.

The company announced on its Japanese website the release of the Xperia A2, the product that is said to be masked as the Z2 Compact. The official name of the model is yet to be determined. After the release of the Xperia Z2 last April, we can expect that its compact model will be out in the market after a few months.

The compact version is the spitting image of the Xperia Z2, same look, same feel, and same water and dust proof body. The Xperia Z2 Compact, however, will be available in orange and lavender. It is also 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS ready. But it was not mentioned if there will be a NFC or micro SD slot.

At 20.7 Megapixels, the rear camera has the same Exmor RS sensor and G Lens. Sony has slightly upgraded the front camera to 2.2 Megapixel. Both cameras can record 1080p Full HD video.

If the expected specs are correct, the Sony Xperia Z2 might retail around the same price as the Xperia Z1. Most of its finer details remain to be unclear. However, upon looking at the major specs, the Z2 Compact is not really an advisable upgrade from the Xperia Z1 Compact as it has no big difference from its predecessors.
