Lumia Cyan Update Begins Rolling Out For Supported Nokia Devices, WP 8.1 Experience Inching Closer To Android?

The Lumia Cyan update has finally been released by Microsoft and should be rolling out to supported Nokia devices starting today.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Lumia Cyan is simply the Windows Phone 8.1 update which was previewed months ago at Microsoft's BUILD Conference, and soon it will be available to supported Nokia Lumia smartphones.

So what does the Lumia Cyan update bring to the table?

If you checked out the different features which come with Windows Phone 8.1, you may have an idea already. The update will add plenty of customization options for WP devices, particulary one that involves personalization of the phone's homescreen.

After installing the update, users will be able to choose a custom background image for the live tile homescreen. Aside from the image, the overall themed look for the UI can also be changed easily.

Another addition is the new Action Center notifications area which is the first of its kind in the Microsoft mobile platform. There is also an updated Internet Explorer 11 for the stock browser, which would improve browsing experience.

Of course we won't forget the voice assistant Cortana which would be able to track notes, schedules, reminders and even answer questions about almost everything. As long as your phone is connected to the Internet, expect an answer coming from the assistant whose name was based on Microsoft's popular gaming title Halo.

Aside from the WP 8.1 updates and features, the Lumia Cyan update also brings Nokia-specific additions and features such as improvements for the Nokia Camera, Creative Studio and even the Nokia Drive app.

In the report by GSM Arena, the update began today and should be available to all supported Nokia Lumia devices in the coming days and weeks. If you have already updated your Nokia smartphone to the latest Windows Phone 8.1 version, kindly tell us in the comments section below what you think about it.
