Blackberry Z3 Sales Deemed Impressive; Specs Of BB10 Powered Smartphone A Hit To Consumers? Sold Out In 2 Weeks After Launch In India

Blackberry Z3 sales has been deemed impressive on many accounts as the BB10-powered smartphone shows early signs that its features is a hit to consumers. According to a report by the Economic Times, the Z3 did not take more than two weeks to sold out.

In a story by Opp Trends, it noted that the Canadian handset maker almost reached the end of its smartphone business when its new CEO John Chen revived its mobile business with the Blackberry Z3 and the upcoming Blackberry Classic. The Z3, which was launched in Jakarta on May, hopes to revive the company’s languishing image. The strategy it seems for the former mobile leader is to deliver quality smartphones at a very competitive price to emerging markets.

Developing countries like Indonesia and India are seen as potential market for smartphone makers, OppoTrends notes. India has a lucrative market that has a huge demand for smartphones, but securing a strong position will not come easy as companies like Nokia and Motorola continue to churn budget-friendly handsets. There is also the reality that Xiaomi, considered the “Apple of China,” entering more Asian markets this year.

Nonetheless, the initial sales reports on the Blackberry Z3 show encouraging signs for the Ontario-based company, whose market share in the business has slipped enormously as companies like Apple, Samsung and Microsoft chip away and take a great slice of the mobile industry pie.

“It is true that we have been almost stocked out (for Z3),” was the comment of Sameer Bhatia, director distribution for Blackberry Ltd. India. The company should hope that such remarks would apply to its future product launches not just in India but in other major emerging markets worldwide.

MARKET UPDATE: Reuters reports that BlackBerry Ltd’s shares took a beating Wednesday after IBM Corporation outlined plans to partner with Apple Incl. in selling iPhones and iPads loaded with application for business users.
