Los Angeles Lakers Roster Complete With New Acquisition Ed Davis, Will Kobe Bryant Be Able To Win 6th NBA Title This Season?

After losing Pau Gasol and Chris Kaman in free agency this year, the Los Angeles Lakers roster looks depleted, especially as far as its frontcourt is concerned.

Fortunately, the management was still able to get a quality forward from a drying free agency pool in Ed Davis.

Little may be known for the 25-year-old power forward from Memphis, but Davis has become an offensive threat for his former team even after coming off little minutes during his first couple of years in the league.

In a report by Bleacher Report, Davis averaged 13.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while making 53 percent of all his shots, most of them inside the shaded lane.

What's more intriguing is that no other NBA team has taken the time to look at what the young athletic forward would do. And as free agency reaches its ending, Davis, a free agent, was certainly looking to land an NBA contract or do not play at all.

The Lakers came to his rescue and offered him a super cheap $2 million contract over the next two years, with a player option next year.

The signing of Ed Davis is certainly a steal, and he would definitely add more firepower to a depleted backcourt of what was left after both Gasol and Kaman looked for greener pastures.

As a player who primarily operates in the paint, Davis could benefit from the playmaking skills of newly acquired floor general Jeremy Lin who loves dishing to open guys inside.

As for the 35-year-old team captain Kobe Bryant, this may not be the team he has been envisioning at the start of the free agency period. However, when you look at all the guys the Lakers signed, they are all mediocre players who are consistent in their roles as a supporting cast. Bryant may have to weave his magic in order to carry this team into the Playoffs.
