Huawei Ascend P7 Review: Move Over Sony, This Is The Original Selfie-Oriented Smartphone

Are you looking for a good-looking smartphone that boasts decent performance? Then you may want to check out this Huawei Ascend P7 review.

Quietly released just a month ago, this midrange-priced Android device was launched by Huawei. The Chinese brand is still almost unknown for most households in Western markets, but this brand has certainly been making waves in Asia.

Over the past couple of years, Huawei managed to be the third top smartphone vendor in the world, only behind perennial manufacturers Apple and Samsung. That is certainly not an easy feat, but with the way Huawei is handling its manufacturing and marketing strategies, it is certainly doing good.

Now, we look at its current flagship device, the Huawei Ascend P7 review, and just by seeing it a lot of people will immediately fall in love with its glass casing, and the iPhone-like overall design.

However, it is not all aesthetics for the Ascend P7 as it boasts a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Unlike other flagships which opted for Qualcomm's Snapdragon, Huawei chose its own quad-core Kirin chipset which is clocked at 1.6Ghz, easily one of the reasons why this phone is more affordable than others.

Behind the device is a 13MP primary camera which does pretty well in natural light conditions, though poor-light conditions can still do better. However, the main star is definitely the 8-megapixel front cam that is geared toward the selfie-taking market.

One of the few downsides of this smartphone is its Emotion UI skin on top of Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. It is a UI that does not have any app drawer, so people who are accustomed with Android's app drawer would need to adjust. All of the applications are displayed on the phone's homescreen, just like in iOS, and users can onl group them based on their preferences.
