Sia’s '1000 Forms Of Fear’ Debuts At Number One: Singer Is Rihanna And Beyonce’s Songwriter, Says She Doesn’t Need To Promote Her Album 'At All'!

Sia's '1000 Forms Of Fear' has shot straight to the top of the US Billboard 200! The Aussie singer's sixth solo effort was released on July 8, and didn't spend any time lingering elsewhere on the charts - it hit the number one position in its debut week.

The record, released on Monkey Puzzle through RCA Records, sold 52,000 copies in the week ending July 13, 2014.

If her voice sounds particularly familiar, you can probably credit the success of Sia's own new single "Chandelier", along with previous collaborations on David Guetta's "Titanium" and Flo Rida's "Wild Ones".

But just a couple of weeks ago, Ms. Furler told NPR that her career means the singer doesn't have to dive into the world of celebrity - she's happy to sit on the sidelines.

"I don't need to promote this album at all," said the "Chandelier" hit maker. "Because I make enough money to live nicely from all my pop songwriting."

Sia's "1000 Forms Of Fear" shows off these carefully honed pop-making chops, the likes of which had usually been applied to hits for artists like Rihanna and Beyonce.

The first track from Sia's "1000 Forms of Fear" album was complete in less than an hour, she told NPR.

"'Chandelier' took like four minutes to write the chords, then like 12 to 15 minutes to write the lyrics. Probably 10 or 15 minutes to cut the vocals," she said.

Sia's pop anthem showed off her skills, and she knows how to work the rules of the game to her advantage. The blonde singer discussed the formula of pop songs, nailing down two types of big hits - what she called "victim to victory" and "party time" songs.

Sia said the first formula starts with the artist singing about bad times. "And then the pre-chorus is 'I don't know what's gonna happen next'. And the chorus is 'Now I'm brilliant and everything is great, because something happened to make it great," said the Australian songstress.

Rounding out the top five albums in the Billboard 200 are the "Frozen" soundtrack, "In the Lonely Hour" by Sam Smith, "Trigga" by Trey Songz, and "X" by Ed Sheeran.
