What Do Engineering Students Think of f(x)?

slide 2 of 6

Recently on an online forum a post titled "What Engineering Students Think of f(x)" was seen with two photos that caught the attention of many internet users.

The photo is a text conversation of an engineering student. He wrote, "If the girl group f(x) broke up, you get f'(x). If you add another member you get ∮f(x). Is that true?" His comment was a word play of the math function f(x).

To that another engineering student wrote, "f(x) is math, NU ABO is biology, Hot Summer is geography, and Electric Shock is chemistry. Such a science-y group..." The engineering community loved it.

Other users who saw the post commented, "f(x)...my mom told me that if to laugh if I don't know something! hahaha" and, "I don't get it." Many confused comments were seen.

Though it was funny for fellow engineering students, the joke didn't hit home with those who are not as familiar with science subjects.
