'Kick-Ass 3' Movie Update: Latest Score On The Struggling Film Franchise; Will Fans Get To See More?

As months go by, the possibility of a "Kick-Ass 3" confirmation gets more unlikely. Not only that, the movie franchise's main stars seem like they are no longer interested to continue on with the project.

Take Chloe-Grace Moretz for example, her character, Hit-Girl is perhaps the most beloved character in the franchise. It's hard to imagine a movie without her but the poor showing of "Kick-Ass 2" kind of seals the fate of the movie franchise. According to the actress, piracy ruined the possibility of a third installment.

"Sadly, I think I'm done with the character. Hit-Girl was a very cool character, but I don't think there will be any more movies," Moretz said via Cinema Blend. "You make these movies for the fanboys, but nowadays everyone seems to pirate them rather than watch them in the movie theatre."

"'Kick-Ass 2' was one of the number one pirated movies of the year, but that doesn't help us because we need box office figures. We need to prove to the distributors that we can make money from a third and a fourth movie - but because it didn't do so well, we can't make another one."

Despite that, "Kick-Ass" director Vince Vaughn believes there's plenty of hope for the franchise and he knows just what to do to revitalize the interest in it.

"We're working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy," Vaughn said via Tech Times. "If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn't like 'Kick-Ass 2' and then we can go off and make 'Kick-Ass 3.'"

"I think we've got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with Kick-Ass," he added.
