EXO are lighting up the hearts fans all around after releasing the music video teaser for their new special collaboration track “Lightsaber."
The popular South Korean boy band is teaming up with Disney and the Star Wars franchise to release the highly anticipated promotional track, “Lightsaber.” This track seeks to drum up interest in Asia for the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster movie ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
The teaser features a powerful rap courtesy of EXO’s Chanyeol with the appearance of members Kai, Baekhyun, and Sehun. Sehun is depicted with a solemn gaze while seated at a bar area. Baekhyun appears to be in a convenience store preparing for a fight with his lightsaber by his side. Kai is the first to make his appearance in the teaser with various cuts and ultimately the first one to activate his lightsaber towards the end of the sneak peek.
Fans left ecstatic comments all over the teaser with some including “It’s amazing, wow, I can’t wait to see the music video,” “I’m so addicted to his [Chanyeol] rap omg, can’t stop replaying this video,” and “If they perform this at MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards), my life is complete.”
Though many fans were quite excited, some began to question whether the original version would be released alongside the current one or if the Star Wars collaboration was a revamped version of the song. Back in 2012, when SM Entertainment was still uploading the set of teasers for EXO’s debut, the sixth teaser of Kai showed him dancing to an earlier version of the track.
Some fans even speculated that the new collaboration project has been in the works since March when EXO used lightsabers for their “El Dorado” performances.
Meanwhile, EXO has been keeping busy with their EXO’luXion tour, various acting projects, and preparing for year-end award ceremonies.
