Kim Ye-rim, better known as Yeri of Red Velvet, is reportedly in discussions to join Blitzway Studio after her recent departure from SM Entertainment.
The news came shortly after SM Entertainment announced the expiration of exclusive contracts with Yeri and fellow group member Wendy on April 4. While the two artists will continue to participate in Red Velvet's group activities, their solo careers are set to take new directions.
According to reports, Blitzway Studio is engaged in positive talks with Yeri regarding an exclusive management contract. The agency, known for representing prominent South Korean actors such as Ju Ji Hoon, Moon Chae Won, and Woo Do Hwan, confirmed the meeting but refrained from sharing further details.
"It is true that we met with Yeri," a representative of Blitzway Studio said.
Yeri debuted as the youngest member of Red Velvet in 2015 during the promotions for their first extended play, Ice Cream Cake.
Beyond her music career, Yeri expanded her portfolio into hosting and songwriting. She served as an MC for MBC's "Show! Music Core" in 2015 and later hosted her own reality-variety show "Yeri's Room" in 2020. Her songwriting debut came in 2017 when she co-wrote the track "Story" for Ragoon's EP Talking. She also showcased her creative talents by co-writing rap portions for Red Velvet's hit song "Red Flavor."
In 2021, Yeri ventured into acting with her debut role in tvN's anthology drama "Drama Stage – Mint Condition". She followed this with lead roles in web dramas such as "Blue Birthday" (2021) and "BITCH X RICH" (2023). Yeri starred as Baek Je Na in "BITCH X RICH," a high school revenge drama set in the elite world of privileged students. The drama's success led to the announcement of "BITCH X RICH" Season 2, slated for release in 2025, where Yeri will reprise her role as the main character Baek Je Na.
Yeri is also set to make her big-screen debut with the mystery-horror film "Next." In this movie, she plays Park Ja-young, a determined young woman participating in a necromancy ritual to uncover the truth about her missing sister.
